CAIRO — A California prosecutor who filed a rape complaint against a former sheriff’s deputy is claiming the case was “torture” and that the deputy’s lawyer had used racial slurs to smear her, according to a lawsuit filed Wednesday.
Raul Rodriguez, 54, of San Luis Obispo County, sued former Sheriff Steve Uehlinger and former Sheriff’s Office Deputy Aaron Ybarra, alleging they physically abused her at his residence in April 2018.
The lawsuit alleges the deputies threatened to “beat and kick” her and tried to rape her, the Los Angeles Times reported.
The sheriff’s office declined to comment.
In August 2018, the sheriff’s department released video of Uehler and Ybarras beating Rodriguez after she resisted their commands, the lawsuit said.
The deputies have been charged with attempted murder and attempted rape.
A spokeswoman for Uehlers attorney’s office, which filed the lawsuit, did not immediately return a request for comment.
